California's Secret Desert™ – Borrego Springs

The Borrego Valley Inn was conceived and built by Palm Springs hoteliers Don & Mary Robidoux and opened in December, 1997. The architect was Stan Polikowsky of Palm Springs.

The Inn is sited on 10 pristine desert acres in the midst of the 680,000-acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, conveniently located just a mile from park headquarters. Surrounded by 4,000’-7,000’ high mountain peaks, the Inn's Santa Fe style architecture blends perfectly into its environment. The desert plantings in courtyards and private patios lead into naturally landscaped grounds, with untouched desert flora and fauna a few short steps from guest rooms.

All 15 rooms are furnished in authentic Southwestern/Mexican décor with saltillo tile floors, luxury linens, private sun & star patios, and walk-in showers with private garden-view windows. Rooms have televisions and phones, wireless internet access, and most include a kitchenette. Eight have gas fireplaces and sitting areas. The Inn serves a hearty, expanded Continental Breakfast daily.

Two separate pool & spa areas provide plenty of space for sunning, soaking, and blissful repose. One pool is heated, for year-round enjoyment. The other pool area is clothing-optional,and is completely separated and fenced for seclusion, privacy, and undisturbed sun bathing for Inn guests.

Owners Gwenn Marie and Rich Caldwell, avid fans of the park and frequent Inn guests since it first opened, acquired the Inn in April, 2006. Seasoned business and marketing professionals, Gwenn and Rich moved from Santa Monica to Borrego Springs in 2003 with the intention of establishing a lodging business. They became enthusiastic civic volunteers. Rich serves on the Borrego Springs Unified School District Board of Trustees, and is an active Rotarian. Gwenn serves as President of the Board of the Borrego Springs Chamber of Commerce.

They are thrilled to now own the Borrego Valley Inn, recognized as Borrego Springs’ premium desert inn.
