It’s been crazy at work, really non-stop. Now it’s time for a complete break – just relaxation. This should put you right. Day OneAfternoonArrive Borrego SpringsCome early and get settled in. Great, now go soak up some of that great afternoon sunlight. The remarkable quiet here won’t distract you from your book or magazine. Tub TimeRelax before dinner, and let your muscles know you love them! Hot tub in winter time, cool tub in the summer. We’ve got ’em waiting for you. EveningDine in TownTry Carmelita’s Mexican Grill for a relaxed, satisfying meal. Full bar, lively, casual. Savor the Dark Night SkyMake sure you allow time to marvel at the sky. Call us crazy, but sitting outside staring at the sky for hours is a time-honored activity here. We call it ‘Borrego TV’. Almost anywhere in town will do, though close to your own bed is best... Day TwoMorningLight ShoppingOne good thing about our limited shopping is that you won’t get tired out. Hit The Mall to cruise through Tumbleweed Trading Co., Borrego Outfitters, and more. You’ll find unique selections made by the proprietors themselves. No chain stores here... Then wander across Palm Canyon to The Center, where a collection of equally eclectic shops wraps around the central plaza. If it’s hot, or not, consider an ice cream cone (two choices) to boost your spirits. Relaxed yet? BrunchThis is the day for brunch! On the patio or inside at the Red Ocotillo you’ll find eggs & omelets available alongside burgers, soups, and great ice tea. Just the place to wind down some more. AfternoonBodyworkWhat could be more relaxing than receiving body work? From a simple therapeutic massage to a complete herbal body wrap, an afternoon at Devas Day Spa can help you hit your cosmic reset button. If venturing out is too stressful for you, order up an in-room massage from one of our local practitioners. EveningDine in TownTry The French Corner for a long, restful meal, while owners Yves and Elyan pamper your palate. Or tuck yourself into a quiet corner at Assaggio and savor the excellent pastas. Very relaxing. Day ThreeMorningVisit “The Slot”About twenty minutes from town, and 3/4 mile off the highway, is a convenient hike through a slot canyon. Here you’re at the edge of a world of interesting locations accessible to higher-clearance and 4WD vehicles. But your car will get you to The Slot and back (not the Ferrari, please). A must-see, and very doable before check-out time. Anza-Borrego Desert State Park® Visitor CenterFollow Palm Canyon Drive west from Christmas Circle (1.5 mi.) until it ends in a parking lot – you’re there! The Visitors Center caters to a wide range of interests. Wander around the living roof, or follow the short botanical loop walk. Inside, the book and map selection is great for browsing. Explore the many exhibits and learn about the area as it is today and was years before. There are also interesting video presentations in the auditorium on a variety of subjects. |
